How to Choose the Right Yoga Teacher Training Course

With so many Yoga Teacher Training programs available worldwide, choosing the right one can feel overwhelming. Here is what genuinely matters.
Start with certification hours and accreditation — a 200-hour program is the standard entry point for teaching, while 300 and 500-hour trainings deepen and specialise your skills. Make sure the school’s certification is internationally recognised so it transfers wherever you plan to teach.
Next, look closely at class size. A program with fifty students per teacher cannot give you the individual alignment feedback that actually makes you a safe, confident teacher. At Shiva Tatwa Yogshala, we deliberately keep our batches small for this reason.
Consider the teaching lineage and location too. Training in the tradition’s birthplace, under teachers who grew up within it, offers a depth that’s difficult to replicate elsewhere. Finally, look at what is included — accommodation, meals, materials and excursions all affect both your experience and your budget.
Most importantly, trust your instinct about the community. You will spend weeks in close quarters with your fellow trainees; choose a program whose values and atmosphere genuinely resonate with you.
