Who We Are

Authentic Yoga, Taught With Heart

Shiva Tatwa Yogshala is a Himalayan yoga school in the peaceful foothills of Budhanilkantha, on the northern edge of Kathmandu. We welcome beginners, experienced practitioners and future teachers from all over the world.

Our programs grew from one simple idea: yoga should be learned the traditional way — slowly, in small groups, close to nature and guided by teachers who live what they teach. Today that idea covers Yoga Teacher Training, healing retreats, yoga treks, Reiki, aerial yoga and singing bowl therapy.

The Meaning of Our Name

“Shiva Tatwa” means the essence of Shiva — pure, peaceful awareness — and a “Yogshala” is a traditional school of yoga. Our name is our promise: a place to return to that inner calm.

What We Believe

The Heart of Our School

Four simple values guide every class, every retreat and every step on the trail.

Rooted in Tradition

Classical Hatha, Ashtanga and Vinyasa, pranayama, meditation and yogic philosophy — taught as a living Himalayan tradition, not a workout.

Small Groups, Real Care

We keep every batch small, so each student gets personal attention, honest feedback and a teacher who knows their name.

Healing for Body & Mind

Yoga, Reiki and sound healing work together with sattvic vegetarian food and quiet rest to restore balance from the inside out.

A Home in the Himalayas

Clean air, forest trails and temple bells — our Budhanilkantha ashram gives practice the stillness it deserves.

★★★★★

Shiv Tattva yogaschool is a special place! I did a retreat there for 10 days. They offer a good programme and enough time to rest. The room was very good and clean. I felt like home, everybody is very warm and welcoming. The yoga classes and sound healing were great. There is a lot of knowledge they share! I will come back if I am in Nepal again. I am very happy that I chose to come to Shiv Tattva.
